Florissant Makes Plans for a Farmer’s Market at St. Ferdinand Shrine Grounds

Florissant may soon be joining the ranks of nearby communities such as Ferguson and Alton that offer farmer’s markets.

Mayor Robert Lowery, Sr. and Frank Stahlschmidt, president of Florissant Old Town Partners, are forming a committee to move forward in establishing a farmer’s market next to Old St. Ferdinand Shrine in Coldwater Commons Park.

“We are always striving for ways to improve the enjoyable venues for our residents and others to take part in, and this farmer’s market would certainly be a great place to begin your Saturday mornings,” said Mayor Lowery.

The market is being developed with the support and cooperation of Goeke’s Produce Market on St. Ferdinand Street.

Plans for the farmer’s market include produce, crafts, art, baked goods, etc. to be available. Ron Veach, director of Florissant Parks and Recreation Department will monitor the plans for the market.
