Hazelwood Custodial Staff Take Extra Precautions during Flu Season

Extra disinfecting will be required during flu season, and if there is a confirmed case of flu in a classroom, all of the new cleaning procedures will be completed daily upon the request of a staff member, school nurse, or principal.

“The nation is getting hit with Influenza and multiple other viruses. St. Louis North County is not the exception,” said Christian Bertel, HSD coordinator of health services. “I have been in contact with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to make sure that we are doing what we can. I was assured that we are doing all the right things and to continue this practice as the CDC predicts we are not at the peak yet.”

Currently, the District has offered Influenza vaccinations, placed hand sanitizer in each classroom, and provided handwashing and Influenza education to students, parents, and staff to prevent the virus from spreading.
