What an incredible Super Bowl it was this year. Most years the average fan doesn’t really even care who wins, they are just going to the big party and watching the game but concentrating on commercials and the halftime show.
This year was different; it was action packed all the way until the end. My household was split as my boys were routing for different teams for different reasons, which made it so much fun.
It was nice to see the underdog, meaning Nick Foles, the QB for the Eagles pull this one off to become the game MVP.
These are the stories that make sports great. For many years, people have referred to the NFL as the No Fun League as everything was so restricted but it has been nice to see the league loosen up on touchdown celebrations and minor things like this. These make it more fun for the fans.
I know that the ratings were down overall for the year but I think by making the game fun it will be more attractive to the average fan.
On Saturday night, they had the NFL Honors show on TV; this is where they honor players for all the good they do in the community. That was awesome to see some players do so much with what they have been blessed with. The stories of these guys brought tears to my eyes.
On the other hand, it was unfortunate to see the fans of Philadelphia go crazy and tear the town up. Where is the line drawn between celebration and violence? I hate to see that. It is such a joyous time when a team wins a championship for everyone. It brings tremendous pride to a city. That scene never happened in St. Louis when the Rams won it all back 18 years ago now.
How’s Those New Year’s Resolutions Going?
How is that New Year’s resolution going? I have talked to several people about it and it’s about 50-50. Some have totally quit already, saying it is too hard to stay focused and the others going strong. I fall somewhere in the middle.
I have been trying to stay focused but have been really busy but I know that at the end of the day that if I have exercised and have eaten healthy that I will feel better, live longer and be able to there more for my family.
It helps me so much at work when I have jogged in the morning before work. It does mean a commitment but it makes the day go better and I am much more productive. I hope you are staying nice and healthy through this flu- ridden season. Stay strong and be accountable to yourself in everything you do.
