Hazelwood Schools’ Annual Performance Report Shows the District Remains Stable

Hazelwood School District (HSD) continues to be fully accredited. The district’s Annual Performance Report (APR) remains stable with a continued focus on earning accreditation with distinction.

 

Statewide, the Hazelwood School District is one of 510 districts that is fully accredited, earning 85% of the total APR points. The district has earned 119 out of 140 possible points or 85% of the points available as shown in the table below covering 2013-2017 school years.

Highlights of the Hazelwood School District’s continued progress include:

Standard #1 – Academic Achievement:

  • The district’s total APR points remains stable in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science
  • The percentage of students scoring proficient or advanced increased about 2% in science

Standard #2 – Subgroup Achievement:

  • The district’s total APR points remains stable in English Language Arts, mathematics, and science
  • The percentage of students scoring proficient or advanced increased about 2% in science

Standard #3 – College and Career Readiness (CCR):

  • For the last three years, the district has increased the total number of APR points in CCR
  • Under Advanced Placement (AP) the District has increased by two points
  • The district remains stable for post-secondary placement, earning 10 out of the 10 possible APR points

 Standard #4 – Attendance

  • The district continues to remain stable, earning 7.5 out of the 10 possible APR points

 Standard #5 – Graduation Rate

  • The district continues to remain stable, earning 30 out of the 30 possible APR points

“The district has been focused for a number of years on being accredited with distinction, and we are only seven points away from our goal,” said Supt Nettie Collins-Hart, superintendent of schools. “The district does have areas that did not show growth, and schools are developing action improvement plans to address any decline noted in the data. We are always working toward continuous improvement, and we are proud of the hard work of our students and staff.”

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has not released individual school annual performance reports at this time.

Under the fifth version of the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 5), Missouri public K-12 school districts are scored on five standards which are: academic achievement, subgroup achievement, college and career readiness, attendance, and graduation rate.

MSIP 5 is used to distinguish the performance of schools and districts in valid, accurate and meaningful ways so that districts in need of improvement can receive appropriate support and interventions, and high-performing districts can be recognized as models of excellence.
