On Aug. 28, Abby Herl, of Delmar Gardens North was named Volunteer of the Year for District Three by the Missouri Healthcare Association. The award was announced during the 70th Annual Missouri Healthcare Convention held Aug. 26-29 in Branson.

Herl has volunteered over 200 hours during the last five summers as part of the Junior Volunteer Program offered by Delmar Gardens North located at 4401 Parker Rd.

“Herl has demonstrated impressive dedication to long term care,” said Delmar Gardens North Director Cathy Bono.

“Her ‘take charge’ attitude prevails with any given job or task but Wednesday mornings are her specialty when weekly church services take place for many denominations.” Herl ensures patrons get to their appropriate gatherings and helps prepare the areas for different services.

Abby says she cannot imagine life without volunteering and has recruited a friend for the upcoming year and is ready to take her under her wing.

“Abby is a sweetheart of a teenager and continues to share her gifts and talents while serving the elderly. It is a joy and a blessing to have her in our Junior Volunteer Program,” said Bono.
