Old Town Walk Through History Plaque will Honor Kenneth Otto

FOTPlogo_ws1Mayor Thomas P. Schneider announced that the City, along with Old Town Partners, will host a dedication to unveil a plaque in honor of the late Kenneth J. “Ken” Otto.

This will be the 31st Walk Through History plaque in honor of someone who has made a valuable contribution to the City of Florissant. The ceremony, located at 330 rue St. Francois, will be held on Wed., Aug. 30 at 5:45 p.m.

Kenneth J. “Ken” Otto had a lifetime of community service in two cities and St. Louis County. He served in the city of Pine Lawn as mayor, alderman, and businessman.

In Florissant Mr. Otto owned two popular Handyman Hardware stores with wife Kathleen and sons Dave and Glenn. Ken was Marygrove Man of the Year, Chamber Business Person of the Year, and a leader in the Florissant Rotary efforts to help others. He served 20 years on the St. Louis County Planning Commission.

The plaque dedication will take place before the start of the fourth Wednesday Night Out festivities. The “Tropical Island Street Party” will start at 6 p.m. and is sponsored by the City of Florissant and Old Town Partners.

The event is hosted by Stems Florist, Bunker’s Tavern, Husband Agency LLC – State Farm, and Kay Bee Electric between the 210 and 301 block of rue St. Francois.

There will be live music by Lenny Frisch and Patrick Rodriguez Duo. In addition, there will be games, adult beverages, soda, and food. Prizes will be awarded for best island party outfit and there will be a raffle for a chance to win a Weber Kettle Grill.
