American National 15U Off To 3-7 Start

American National 15 and under Baseball team, a member of the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association and competes in the West Division is off to a struggling start. The Eagles are 3-7 prior to a June 26 rematch at Hazelwood Sports Complex against Stallions Black, a team the Eagles defeated 6-2m May 21 at Car Shield Field (Formerly T.R. Hughes Ballpark), O’Fallon, Mo.

American National also had a June 28 game against the JC Blazers at the Hazelwood Sports Complex.

American National splits two doubleheaders. The Eagles split the June 2 doubleheader against the South-West Stars at Heine-Meine Field winning 4-3 in eight innings after losing 11-9. The Eagles also split a June 24 doubleheader against the St. Charles Capitals at Hazelwood Sports Complex winning 14-12 then losing 10-9.

American National lost two games to the Rawlings Recruits, 8-5 May 22 at Hazelwood Sports Complex and 10-5 June 20 at Northwest High, Cedar Hill. The Eagles also lost to the Easton STL Tigers, 14-4 June 6 at Heman Park in University City, Stallions Gold, 8-3 June 14 at Car Shield Field, and Southside Dirtbags, 13-11 June 21 at Lutheran High School North.

The Eagles have a pair of 6 p.m. rematches at Lutheran North to end the 2017 schedule including June 30 against the Easton STL Tigers and July 12 against Stallions Gold

WIN VERSUS SOUTH-WEST STARS — American National wrapped up the nightcap by scoring the winning run in the eighth inning. The Eagles scored two runs in the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead only to have the Stars grab it back with two in the sixth. American National tied it with a sixth-inning run. Landon Johnson (Hazelwood West) struck out nine in seven innings of pitching while John Wagoner (Hazelwood West) stole three bases.

WIN VERSUS ST. CHARLES CAPITALS — After spotting the Capitals a 2-1 lead American National seven runs in the second inning and two in the fourth. However, after giving the Capitals four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to gain a 12-11 lead only to have the Eagles score three in their sixth to win it after keeping St. Charles off the board in the seventh. Brian Delgado (Hazelwood West) drove in four runs, Anthony Benz (McCluer North) drove in three while scoring two, Daryl Wigglesworth (Hazelwood West) drove in two and scored twice along with Wagoner (winning pitcher) and Matt Branam (Hazelwood West), who has stolen two bases.

WIN VERSUS STALLIONS BLACK — Leading 3-2 in the fifth inning American National added three runs and it held up for the win. Johnson struck out nine in a complete-game two-hitter while scoring two runs while Chase Klug (Hazelwood West) also scored twice.
