Northwinds Concert Band, under the direction of Larry Marsh, will present its annual Hometown Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 11 and 3:00 p.m. in the Florissant Civic Center Theatre. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for older adults and students, with a special “Immediate Family” rate of $15. Call the Box Office at (314) 921-5678.
The concert will feature Holiday classics like “Christmas Festival” and “Sleigh Ride,” plus exciting new arrangements including Christmas songs from the 50’s, a sing-along, and lovely vocals from Northwinds Holiday Chorus under the direction of Ike Eichenberger, and “The Christmas Song” sung by Marc Strathman.
Northwinds will also bring holiday treats from around the world, including a Catalonian carol from Spain, the Ukrainian Bell Carol and a midnight sleigh ride by Russian composer Serge Prokoviev.
An unusual twist on the usual holiday fare will come in the form of a delightful new arrangement based on the Bavarian/Austrian tradition of Krampus, who travels with Saint Nick doling out punishment to bad boys and girls, reminding all of us to be good for goodness sake.
Florissant’s sixty-piece Northwinds band has presented annual holiday concerts in the Civic Center for over 25 years.
