American National 16-Under Baseball Leads SLABA North

American National Eagle Baseball’s 16 and Under team entered the regular season finale by leading the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association 16 and Under North Division prior to July 11.

American National was 8-3 prior to playing the STL Tigers 16 and under July 11 at Hazelwood Sports Complex and the scheduled season finale July 12 at C & H Ballpark, St. Charles County, against Capitals 16 and Under “M” team. The Record does not include games not played on June 11, 28 and July 6 and American National 16 and Under was on a four-game winning streak prior to July 11.

American National 16 and Under has scored 60 runs on 85 hits including 16 doubles and four triples, batting .326 while slugging .414. Jimmy Boswell was batting .438 with 14 hits while slugging .625 with four doubles, batting in eight runs and stealing six bases while Josh Inman has four doubles, scoring eight runs while driving in eight. Jordan Grimmett walked five times and stealing six bases while Tommy Rupp has scored eight times while stealing eight bases. Boswell has nine saves, Inman strikes out nine and Blake Vaughn has 2 wins.

  A-N 18 AND UNDER — Prior to playing two games on July 11, the Blazers 18 and Under at Hazelwood Sports Complex and Capitals 18 and Under “M” team at C & H Ballpark, St. Charles County — American National Eagles had an 8-6-1 record, winning four out of seven games after a four game losing streak.

Offensively American National has scored 76 runs on 108 hits including 15 doubles, seven triples and two home runs, batting .276 while slugging .365 wirh 53 walks and 32 stolen bases. Pitching the Eagles 18 and Under have a 2.46 earned run average with 96 strikeouts.

Individually Ethan Wallace is batting .39 while slugging .674 with 17 runs scored on 18 hits including four triples and a home run and has stolen six bases. Hunter Martin has 18 hits and 19 runs batted in including a home run, Adam Goss has 14 runs and three doubles and Melchizedek Williams has stolen six bases. Wallace, Goss, Joshua White and Zachary Moravec have seven bases on balls each.

In pitching Wallace and Alex Gutermuth have two wins each, Gutermuth has 38 strikeouts and Davin Smmons has not allowed an earned run while giving up three unearned runs in 11 2/3 innings.

A-N 15 AND UNDER — Prior to July 6 American National 15 and Under was 2-8 not counting games not played on June 9, 24 and was on a six-game losing streak. The Eagles 15 and Under have scored 40 runs on 47 hits while allowing 77 runs, 59 earned on 80 hits.

Jimmy Adams was batting .412 while slugging .471 with seven hits and five stolen bases, Emanuel Julien and Jasper Jones have scored six runs each, Will Johnson has five runs batted in, Julien has eight bases on balls and Kyle Burgess has struck out 13 opposing batters.

SLABA ALL STAR GAMES — The St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association will be making selections for the All Star teams on Thursday, July 14, 6:30 at Christy Banquet Center, 5856 Christy Blvd., St. Louis. The All Star Games for 15 and Under, 16 and Under and 17 and Under will take place July 31, 12 noon- 9 p.m. at Car Shield Field, Formerly T. R. Hughes Ballpark, O’Fallon, Mo.. The 18 and Under All Star game will be on Aug. 1, 6:30 at Car Shield Field.

AMERICAN LEGION — MARLYAND HEIGHTS played games this season at McCluer North High School. The Senior Legion teasm (1-12 in District 10, 2-16 overall prior to July 5) was 1-5 at McCluer North, Junior Legion (5-8 District 10 and overall prior to June 30) was 3-4 at McCluer North not including June 30 vs. Chesterfield Freshman and Freshman Legion (1-6 District 10 and overall) was 1-2 at McCluer North.
