2 Local Church Choirs To Sing at Shrine Christmas Concert Dec. 14

Old St. Ferdinand Shrine’s Christmas Concert will be held on Sunday Dec. 14 from 3– 5 p.m. The Shrine is always very beautiful building with the lights of Christmas glowing through the church. The choirs are the Florissant Valley Baptist Church Praise Choir and the Choir from St. Sabina Catholic Church will perform.

The Florissant Valley Baptist Church Praise Choir has been an integral part of their Church’s ministry since its establishment in 1938. The choir presents a wide range of music from classical and jazz to contemporary and southern gospel. For the St. Ferdinand Concert, they will be presenting Benjamin Harlan’s “A Candlelight Christmas.”

The choir is under the direction of Tammy Stevenson, an accomplished Mezzo-Soprano soloist and has worked with the St. Louis Symphony for six seasons. During this time she took part in numerous Carnegie Hall performances and professional recordings. She has received her Master’s degree in Music and has studied in various areas including New York.

The St. Sabina Choir is under the direction of Francine Holben. The choir has received many accolades for their beautiful music not only for regular masses but for special occasions. They will be performing a Christmas Cantata.
