Hazelwood West Boys, Hazelwood Central Girls Win Track And Field

It was a winning Track & Field day before Easter, March 26, for the Hazelwood West Boys in O’Fallon, Mo. and for the Hazelwood Central Girls in the Clayton-University City area.
Hazelwood West Boys won the 16th Fort Zumwalt West Jaguar Invitational by scoring 89 points, edging out Columbia-Rock Bridge (87) by two points. McCluer North was eighth with 48.5 points.
Hazelwood Central Girls was at Bushyhead Track and historic Francis Field to win the Washington University High School Meet by scoiring 149 points and that was by 54.25 points over second place Washington High School (Franklin County), who had 95.75. Hazelwood East was sixth with 63.
In the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguar Invitational Girls meet Rock Bridge scored 121 points to win the meet. McCluer North was eighth with 42 while Hazelwood West was 12th with 33. In the Washington University High School Boys meet CBC scored 212 points to win the meet while Hazelwood Central finished fourth (89).
HAZELWOOD WEST BOYS — Only two varsity events were won by the Wildcats. Senior Isaiah Cole won the 400-Meter dash in 49.53 sconds. Junior James Croft won the 200-Meter Dash in 22.08 seconds. Cole and Croft made up half of the 4×400 Meter Relay team that finiahed third in 3:29.3. Senior Adrian Brown finished second in the 100-Meter dash (11.801 seconds) and the discus (127 feet).
Hazelwood West Boys took third in the 4×200-Meter Relay, senior Corice Spann was third in the Long Jump (19’6.75″), senior Cortez Davis was fourth in the shot put (43’11”) and sixth in the discus (111’9″), senior Jordan Morehead was fourth in the Long Jump (18’4.5″), sophomore Bryan Carroll was third at 800 Meters (2:05.06), and senior Jacob Decker was fifth at 1,600 Meters (4:47.18) and sixth at 3,200 Meters.
HAZELWOOD CENTRAL GIRLS won two relays and five indvidual events plus taking second in four events, all behind their teammates at Wash. U. Hazelwood Central won the 4×200-Meter Relay (1:41.2) and the 4×400-Meter Relay (4:04.7) while indiviaual winners include junior Brittney Johnson,100-Meter Dash (12.38 seconds), junior Destiney Nash. 200-Meter Dash (25.98 seconds), Danielle Frank, 400-Meter Dash (58.33 seconds), Symiah Fulton, 100-Meter Hurdles (15.68 seconds), and junior Ahliyah Shumpert, High Jump (Five Feet). Second-place finishers behind their teammates include sophomore Deja Ingram, 100 Dash (12.57 seconds), senior Ariana Phillips, 400 Meters (1:00.91), senior Devyn Torbert, 100 Hurdles (16.78 seconds, and sophomore Taylor Ramsey, High Jump (4’8″)
HAZELWOOD CENTRAL BOYS won the 800-Meter Sprint Medley (1:41.87) at Wash. U., was second in the 4×400-Meter Relay (3:33.83) and third in the 4×200 Relay (1:35.23). Senior Lawan Alade-fe won the 100-Meter Dash (11.3 seconds) and 200 Meter Dash (22.41 seconds) while Harvey Howell won the High Jump (Six Feet). Finishing second were Justin Toney, 300-Meter Hurdles (41.81 seconds), Duane Marsaw, High Jump (5’8″) and Tariq Broomfield, Triple Jump (38’2″).
McCLUER NORTH got a win in Boys meet at Fort Zumwat West from senior Princeton Liggins in the 100-Meter Dash (11.67 seconds) and Liggins was second at 400 Meters (50.4 seconds) while was part of the winning 4×400-Meter Relay (3:27.27). Freshman Lance Lang was third at 400 Meters, senior Ronald Tate was fourth in the 100 Dash (11.87 seconds) and junior Clnton Heffner was four at 3,200 Meters (10:34.42).
On the Girls side at Zumwalt West senior Jayla Riggins won the Long Jump (17’4.5″) and was third in the 100 Dash (13.56 seconds). The Stars won the 4×200 Meter Relay (1:48.33), and junior Sydney Rogers won 400 Meters (59.88 seconds).
HAZELWOOD EAST GIRLS won the 4×100-Meter Relay (51.54 seconds) and the 800-Meter Sprint Medley (1:59.55) at Wash. U. while finishing second in the 4×200 Relay (1:49.07) and the 4×400 Relay (4:18.49). Finishing third were senior Creshonna Crenshaw, 200 Meters (26.76 seconds), Dominique Knox, 100-Meter Hurdles (17.54 seconds) and senior Myesha Dennis, Triple Jump (32;8.5″).
HAZELWOOD WEST GIRLS got a third-place finish at Zumwalt West in the 4×100 Relay (53.88 seconds), junior Brene Upchurch was second in the Triple Jump(34’1.5″) and junior Jerrica Gardner was third in the 300 Hurdles (50.68 seconds)
