The grand opening of the newly renovated Florissant tennis courts at Tower Court Park will be celebrated Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m. Joining host Mayor Thomas Schneider at the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be Pat Kelly, executive director of the St. Louis County Municipal League, and Todd Schmidt, director of the Florissant Parks & Recreation Department.

Charlie Dyall, a 98-year-old Florissant resident who hits tennis balls on a regular basis, will hit the first ball. Charlie will be joined at the ceremony by the next three generations of his family–son John, grandson Adam and great grandson Owen–who all live in Florissant. After the ceremony, the McCluer High School tennis team will play a match against the Riverview Gardens High School tennis team.

Renovations were funded by the St. Louis County Municipal Park Grant Program. The court surfaces are post-tension concrete, the first of this kind for the city of Florissant
