John B. Meyer’s House on Auction Block
The historic John B. House, built in 1867, and the Barn located behind the house will up for auction at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at its location, 180 Dunn Road, Florissant.
The two-story Palladian style house has 12 rooms with a fireplace in each room. The house has had various owners since John B. Meyers and his wife , Adelaide first bought the land and built the house in 1867.
The historic house was saved from the wrecking ball when the interchange of Interstate 270 and I-170 was planned thanks to the efforts of the late Rosmary Davison and the Florissant Historical Society. Their efforts lead to the property being placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and the state highway commission slightly changing its plans for the construction of the interchange. The Barn, located behind the house, has commercial kitchen space and second floor area for office and retail. The Barn Deli was the last occupant there.
Adams Auctions will host a preview Open House on Sunday, Aug. 16, from 2:30-4:30.
