Kortes Wednesday NightKORTES HONORED: Florissant Mayor Thomas P. Schneider and the City along with Old Town Partners hosted a dedication ceremony to unveil a plaque honoring the late Frank and Josephine Korte. This was the 22nd Walk through History plaque and the first to have two people (husband and wife) honored on the same plaque   Both have made a valuable contribution to the City of Florissant. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, June on the sidewalk in front of Kortes Custom Framing & Antiques at 610 rue St. Francois, before the start of the first Wednesday Night Out festivities

Frank and Josephine married in 1943 and opened Korte Hardware, 610 St. Francois, in 1946.

Devoted to family and faith, the Kortes put a priority on community service with leadership roles in fire department, hospital, Chamber of Commerce, historical preservation, St. Ferdinand Shrine, Valley of Flowers, Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, Marygrove, and others. Married over 50 years raising 11 children, their “successful hard work and commitment is an example of dedication to inspire future generations of Florissant Families,” Mayor Schneider said.
