Hazelwood Names New Directors for Communications, Early Childhood

The Hazelwood School District (HSD) Board of Education selected Kimberly McKenzie as Director of Communications and Media Relations; and Teri Harding as the Director of Early Childhood Education.

Kimberly McKenzie joined HSD in 2013 as a communications and community relations specialist after working as Vice President, Public Relations and Communications for Citigroup’s Credit Cards division. She also served communication roles in the Fortune 500 Corporation over 15 years before coming to St. Louis.

McKenzie will complete her master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University in July and has completed coursework toward her master’s degree in Divinity from Northern Theological Seminary.

McKenzie also serves on the board of several organizations including the Hazelwood Bright Futures, Care to Learn-Hazelwood, Rotary Club of Florissant, Greater North County Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education Committee, and Christian Hospital’s Legacy Leaders Dinner Committee.

Teri Harding comes to HSD from the City of St. Charles School District where she most recently served as principal of Harris Elementary and district communications arts facilitator. She has also held the positions of assistant principal at Boone Elementary School in the Lincoln County R-III District, adjunct professor at Missouri Baptist University and an educator in the Francis Howell School District.

Harding is a candidate for her doctoral degree in education with an emphasis in Instructional Leadership, has master’s degrees in educational administration and education and holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, all from Lindenwood University.

“This is an exciting time for our District,” said Dr. Ingrid Clark-Jackson, HSD interim superintendent. “There were many highly qualified candidates for both opportunities, but the Board and HSD Leadership Cabinet are confident that Kimberly and Teri are great additions to our team to ensure the success of our students and to help the Hazelwood School District to move forward.”
