STLCC-Florissant Valley to Host 2nd Annual Electronic Recycling Day Oct. 11

The City of Florissant Environmental Quality Commission and St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley will hold the second annual Electronic Recycling Event at the STLCC-Florissant Valley campus on the lower parking lot, P-17 from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Oct. 11.

Electronics consist of valuable resources which require considerable energy to process and manufacture. Recycling electronics recovers valuable materials, conserves resources and results in lower environmental emission than making products from virgin materials. Many will need to dispose of televisions rendered unusable by the impending switch to digital broadcasting.

Midwest Recycling Center will be on hand to accept televisions, computers and other “white” appliances. These appliances will be remanufactured into aluminum and steel by shredding and melting them into nuggets that can be reused in other products. Instead of throwing those old electronics away, community members are encouraged to bring them to be recycled.

Other recyclable items that can be brought to Florissant Valley Community College on Saturday,Oct. 11 include:

Computer Peripherals

CDs, CDRW drives, CPUs, hard drives, laptops, notebooks, monitors, printers, routers, scanners, servers, zips, DVDs, floppy drives.
