‘Fiesta in Florissant’ June 27-28 at Knights of Columbus Park Celebrates Hispanic Culture

Hispanic Festival, Inc. of Greater St. Louis will hold ‘Fiesta in Florissant’ at the Knights of Columbus Park, near Lindbergh and Washington Street, June 27-28. Saturday hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday hours, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Florissant Mayor Thomas Schneider will speak at the festive Welcome Ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 27.

New this year is the Fiesta car show Saturday at noon. The celebration also offers live Latino Bands and Folkloric dancers from countries such as Panama, Colombia and Mexico. Local and regional bands include Los Desesperados Mexican Band, La Tremenda Rumba Salsa Band, Los Patrones de St. Louis and Crudos de Durango Mexican Band. Foods and beverages available for purchase will be native to Latin and South America and include tamales, tacos and empanadas.

Other attractions include folk arts and crafts, Los Niños Kids Corner with piñatas and Dora the Explorer, pony rides, inflatable rides and information booths from several cultural organizations. Admission and parking are free.

The Fair celebrates the common heritage of Hispanic nations, which is particularly applicable because of the increased Hispanic presence in North County. Funds raised are applied to scholarships distributed to college-bound students and underprivileged children.
