Hazelwood Police Participate in ‘Click It Or Ticket’

Hazelwood Joins ‘Click It Or Ticket’ Campaign

The Hazelwood Police Department will participate with other law enforcement agencies in an aggressive “Click It or Ticket” campaign May 18 to May 31 to crack down on seat belt violators. Seat belt use is the single most effective way to protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. However, Missouri’s 79 percent seat belt usage rate is consistently below the national average of 87 percent despite advances in auto safety and education about wearing seat belts. Six of 10 people in Missouri who are involved in traffic accidents are found unbuckled at the scene. Teens and pick-up truck drivers are among those least likely to buckle up, at 67 and 63 percent, respectively.

“Sadly, every day someone dies in a crash in Missouri, because they weren’t buckled up. We will be pulling out all the stops to ensure motorists are buckling up,” said Hazelwood Police Chief Gregg Hall.
