Hazelwood Central Boys Track & Field, coming off a third-place finish at the University City “Charlie Beck” Invitational April 4, takes home a second place finish April 11 at Cedar Hill.
At the Northwest High School Invitational Hazelwood Central scored 96 points and was second to Lafayette, who had 118.5. Kirkwood, who won the “Charlie Beck” Invitational, was third with 89.5 while Hazelwood East was seventh with 48.
In the Girls meet Kirkwood, coming off part of a “Charlie Beck” Invitational boys-girls sweep, won the Northwest Invitaional with 109 points, two better than second-place Lafayette, while Hazelwood East finished eighth with 38.
Hazelwood Central won four events including three relays — 4×100 Meters in 43.32 seconds, 4×200 Meters in 1:38.10 and 4×400 Meters in 3:30.31 — while Tahj Williams won the 100-Meter Dash with a 11.01-second sprint. Finishing second for Hazelwood Central were Justin Blackmon, 110-Meter High Hurdles (15.48 seconds), Justin Hall, 200-Meter Dash (22.21 seconds), and Jordan Croft, High Jump (6’0″). Finishing Third were Urius Chambers, Triple Jump (39’10.5″), Reginald Howard, Shot Put (48’10”), and Lawan Alade-Fa, 200 Meter-Dash (22.34 seconds).
HAZELWOOD EAST BOYS had three second-place finishers. They were Rajai Perkins, Long Jump (20’7.75″), Ulysses Thomas, 300-Meter Intermediate Hurdles (41.5 seconds) and Eric Wooten, 800-Meter Run (2:05.44).
HAZELWOOD EAST GIRLS had a second-place finisher in Creshonna Crenshaw, 100-Meter Dash (12.99 seconds) and a third-place finisher in Jada Jackson, 400-Meter Dash (1:03.07).
OTHER MEETS — At the Herculaneum Mineral Area Invtational North Tech took fourth in the Girls meet (83 points) and seventh in the Boys meet (27 points), At the John Burroughs Skippy Keefer Relays Luttheran North took second to the meet hosts in the Boys meet (81 points) and shared fourth place in the Girls meet (54 points) with Westminster Christian Academy and Clayton. In the All-Catholic Invitational at Chaminade CBC won the Boys meet (162 points) followed by two Jesuit schools, DeSmet (85.5) and St. Louis University High (83) In the Girls meet Incarnate Word Academy shared 4th place.
NORTH TECH GIRLS won four events at Herculaneum. North Tech won the 4×100-Meter Relay (52.33 seconds) and the 4×200-Meter Relay (1:49.33) while Constance Jackson won the 100-Meter High Hurdles (16.1 seconds) and the 300-Meter Low Hurdles. Janaye Randall took second in the High Jump (5’0″) and third in the Long Jump (15’1.5″), Khemberley Matlock was second in the 100-Meter Dash (13.75 seconds) and Mariah Bradley was third in the 200-Meter Dash (28.4 seconds).
NORTH TECH BOYS was led by Patrck Jenkins, second in the 100-Meter Dash (11.71 seconds). North Tech has re-built an all-weather track after the original track, built in 1972, was deteriorating.
