Council Updates on Ball Field Lighting, New Security Cameras

The Florissant City Council Executive session last week provided updates to several area projects, including upgrading the ballfield lighting at St. Ferdinand Park.

City workers will be upgrading the lighting on Ballfields 1 and 2, which they estimate will be completed by spring in time for league games. Work will begin on Ballfields 3 and 7 after this, but won’t be completed until sometime next year, depending on available budget funds.

Another area discussed regarded the installation of new security cameras at Florissant City Hall. The new cameras will be installed both internally and externally. The ones inside will be around the front entrance and secretary desk. Outside cameras will vary by location.

With an improvement grant received back in 2013, work on Lafayette Street between Washington Street and North Highway 67 has been ongoing. Work will continue to improve the sidewalks and walkways for pedestrians, along with making the storm sewer, curb and gutter improvements for storm water drainage. -Jeremy Thomas
