northwqood concert pg 7.Northwinds Concert Band, under the direction of Larry Marsh, will present its traditional “Hometown Holiday Concert” on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. in the Florissant Civic Center Theatre.  Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students.  Bring the entire immediate family for only $12.  To reserve seats, call the Civic Center box office at 921-5678.

This concert will mark the 20th anniversary of the band’s holiday performances in the Florissant Civic Center Theatre.  Before 1994, the band presented its winter programs at Jamestown Mall to large crowds of holiday shoppers.

The concert will reprise several works that were played in that very first Civic Center holiday program, including Leroy Anderson’s “Christmas Festival” and “Sleigh Ride.”  Other seasonal favorites include “Winter Wonderland,” “Skaters’ Waltz,” and “Three Moods of Hanukkah.”  Of course, the audience will be invited to join in for a Christmas Sing-a-long.

Special guests will be the Jameson Quartet, who will sing “Little Drummer Boy” and then join the band for a medley of Irving Berlin’s music from the film “White Christmas.”

The band is a program of Ferguson-Florissant’s Community Education Department. For more information about the band or the concert, visit the website at www.northwindsband.org.
