After several delays because of rainfall and weather conditions, the new $5.7 million water park complex at White Birch Park is open–with two-thirds of the swimming season still available.

The official grand opening came on the July 4th weekend for the new water park, which offers a resort feeling instead of a municipal swimming pool.

Features at the new water park include a 25-foot tower which has an open flume raft ride and an enclosed tube slide, a zero depth entry pool, Kiddy Wave pool with small 6-12-inch waves and a Lazy Wavy River with a rock wall finish that generates waves.

There’s also a competitive pool with diving board and a 360-degree bubble slide where riders can slide down in any direction. The bubble slide is the only one like in the United States, said Parks and Recreation Director Doug Littlefield. Long-time parks dept. employee Jill Arnold is the manager.

This two-story building features 5,300 square feet of floor space with meeting and changing rooms and a concessions area.
