There may soon be three new businesses near the Lindbergh – New Halls Ferry intersection. The Florissant City Council held a public hearing Monday night  on a proposal for the area and will hold a final vote on the plan at the next meeting.

David Volz spoke for the development at 3025 N. Hwy 67. This is currently the site of Leslie Pool Supply.

The three businesses are a Starbucks Coffee, a dentist office, and an unnamed retailer.

The new businesses will use part of the existing building. The new development will also have the same entrance from Lindbergh. The property has a back entrance behind the Denny’s Restaurant next door, and the developers plan to renovate this entrance so it will get more use.

The total square footage of the building will be just under 5600 square feet. The Starbucks will include a drive-through on the west side of the property. Most of the parking for the project will be behind the building on the existing lot.

No one spoke in opposition at the hearing. The council held a first reading on a bill approving the project.

In other matters,  the council:

•  approved a bill that will rename the Florissant Police Station the “Robert G. Lowery Sr. Law Enforcement Center.” Resident Kevin O’Donnell, who ran as a write-in candidate in the recent city council races,  spoke in opposition, saying that the station should not be named for just one person, or if it was, perhaps for Michael Vernon, the officer who was  shot in the line of duty.

The council held three readings on the bill and unanimously approved it.

• Passed a resolution urging opposition of the ‘right to work’ laws in the state that has been the subject of legislation in the state capitol.

• Approved a request keep four hens at 1600 Fairmount Drive.
