Operation Christmas Child (OCC) organizers are already looking for volunteers for Christmas 2014
During the recent 2013 campaign St. Louis residents joined a 10-county St Louis & Eastern Missouri team to fill 50,771 empty shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and hygiene items. In an effort to increase the number of shoeboxes, OCC is forming more local teams.
Vicki Stamps, area coordinator for the new St. Louis Area Team, invites St. Louis residents to attend a get-together on Sunday afternoon, May 4, from 3-5 p.m. at Fee Fee Baptist Church, 11330 St. Charles Rock Rd., 63044. Guest speaker will be Scott Luhring, OCC regional manager from Kansas City. He will discuss opportunities to serve the ministry and give a report on a shoebox distribution in Uganda.
More information is available from Vicki Stamps at 314-838-0462 or via email at vastamps@att.net.
Operation Christmas Child, a project of international Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse, headed by Franklin Graham, is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind. Through simple gifts and a message of hope, children learn they are loved and not forgotten. For many of these children, the shoebox gift will be the first gift they have ever received.
A year-round, online giving tool also conveniently allows anyone to build a box. By visiting the project’s website at www.samaritanspurse.org, participants can select a child’s age and gender, shop through an online selection of gifts, virtually “pack” an empty shoebox, and finish it off by writing a note of encouragement. Operation Christmas Child volunteers will pack the shoebox gifts and ship them on behalf of the donors.
To register a shoebox gift, use the donation form online.
