Incumbents for both the Ferguson-Florissant and Hazelwood School districts Board of Education won relection in Tuesday, April  8^th elections, but two incumbents on the Florissant City Council lost their seats to challengers.

Two propositions on ballot in the Black Jack Fire Protection District were passed, one easily and  the other much closer. Prop. B, a $5.3 million bond issue for upgrades, was approved 2,349 to 916. The 40-cent levy increase for an ambulance and defibrillator program  won 1939-1308.

Incumbents Rob Chabot and Paul Morris were reelected in the hotly contested Ferguson-Florissant board race that had the suspension and later resignation of superintendent Art McCoy as a major issue in the campaign.  One of the three candidates with the Citizens for Educational and Community Change that supported McCoy gained the second most votes in the race.  Donna Paulette-Thurman had 2733 votes, just behind Chabot with 2898 and just ahead of Morris who had 2516 votes.

In the Florissant Council races, Tim Jones won the Ward 2 seat, easily beating incumbent John Grib, 422-182. Challenger Gerard Henke edged incumbent Patrick Stinnett 442-384 in Ward 6.  Ward 4 incumbent Jeff Caputa withstood a challenger from write-in candidates Kevin O’Donnell. The vote was 236 to 98 for write-in.

In Ward 8, Mark Schmidt ran unopposed.

In the Hazelwood School District board race for 3 seats, all three incumbents, Brenda Youngblood, Ann Gibbons and Chuck Woods won, each getting at least 22% of the vote
