2 Florissant Women Will Compete in Ms. Missouri Senior America Pageant

The 2008 Ms. Missouri Senior America Pageant will be held Saturday July 12, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., at the James Eagan Civic Center Theatre.

The pageant exemplifies the elegance of senior women over the age of 60 and is a fun, entertaining event. Talented ladies over the age of 60 are especially urged to attend in hopes that they can participate as contestants in 2009.

Reserved seats can be purchased for $15 by calling the Civic Center box office (after May 29) 314-921-5678 or can be purchased at the door on the day of the event for $17. Groups of 10 or can get tickets at the discounted rate of $12.

Two Florissant women will be in the 2008 Ms. Missouri Senior America Pageant. They are: Bernice Birmingham and Victoria Malone

BERNICE BIRMINGHAM. Bernice lives up to the city’s name of the “city of the flowers.” Her love of gardening led to a master gardener degree in 2007. She serves as a Board Member of the Florissant Garden Club. She has two children and five grandchildren.

Bernice has had several careers in her lifetime, but by far her most satisfying has been a 40 year career as a cosmetologist. She is also certified in reflexology and feels she helps people relax so they can enjoy their life from a positive viewpoint. Other interests include cooking, sewing, golfing, reading, church work, and volunteering at Grammy Camp with her granddaughter Savannah. Bernice will present a comedy routine capturing the humor from her hairdressing days “behind the chair.”

VICTORIA MALONE. Victoria resides in Florissant and is the mother of two children. She attended Southeast Missouri University and University of Missouri St. Louis and graduated from Florissant Valley Community College with an Associate Degree.

Victoria works for the Brown shoe Company where she has been for 21 years. Playing the piano and working with children are her passions. She plays the piano at nursing homes and also works with first through sixth grade girls at her church. She also sings with the St. Louis Concert Choir.

Victoria is the youngest of 13 children that includes five generations of pastors. Victoria keep herself busying enjoying life, sewing, traveling, singing, house repairs, plumbing, painting, and just an all around “handyman.” Victoria will be playing “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho” on the piano.
