Florissant Seniors Know How To Celebrate New Year’s Eve Early

There’s always someone on the dance floor doing a variety of dancing at the annual New Year’s Eve party at the Florissant Civic Center.

Senior residents of Florissant know how to have a good time, and they prove it each year at their biggest and quite possibly most anticipated annual event: The Senior New Year’s Eve Party, hosted by the city at the James J. Eager Center.

While last year’s event made the cut on Jay Leno’s The Tonight Show, this year had is own fun.

The area seniors got down on the dance floor, from line dancing, to slow dancing, or swing dancing. The floor in front of the stage (featuring the Michael Lacy Band) was filled to the max with some pretty impressive dance moves.

All that dancing makes them hungry.

Tornatore’s Catering knew just how to fill everyone up when they served a delicious meal complete with cheesecake dessert and donated the prize of a catered meal for eight to boot. Many other prizes were donated by other local businesses.

MAYOR TOM SCHNEIDER got around to the tables during the New Year’s Eve party to talk with residents and guests.

Mayor Tom Schneider thanked Senior Coordinator Peggy Hogan, her staff; Carol Henke, Carol Loftus, and Mary Ann Branca, and all of the Senior Advisory Commission members who put on an event to be proud of. Several council members were present to help out also. The mayor gave thanked Council members John Grib, Joe Eagan, Pat Stinnett and Jackie Pagano, Keith Schildroth and Tim Lee who helped make this a successful event.

From the live music to the good food, the festive feathered headbands and hot-to-trot fedoras to the joyful jubilation with friends, the Seniors of Florissant could show a thing or two to the younger crowd about how to ring in the New Year—even if it’s at noon.
