Hazelwood Offers Free Christmas Tree Recycling

The City of Hazelwood has formed a partnership with Allied Waste Services for this year’s Holiday Tree Pick-Up Program. Residents can now leave the trees at the street curb for pick-up instead of taking them somewhere for disposal or allowing them to clutter local landfills.

Allied will be picking up real Christmas trees free of charge for Hazelwood residents during the first two weeks in January. Residents should place their trees at the street curb by 7 a.m. on their regular recycling day during this period. If the tree is over six-feet tall, it will need to be cut in half. The trunk of the tree should be facing the street. In addition, all tinsel and ornaments must be removed from the tree.

After the initial two weeks, Allied will charge residents $10 per pick-up.  Residents who need their tree taken away at this point will have to call Allied’s Customer Service Department at (636) 947-5959 to schedule a pick-up appointment.
