Build-A-Bear Founder and CEO, Maxine Clark recently visited Ellery Clark’s Entrepreneurship class at the Jennings College Prep Academy with a message.
She inspired students and shared how their imagination was the beginning of creating a dream. Students asked questions about her life and asked her advice about careers. Mrs. Clark shared how inspirational teachers were for her and she talked about the importance of giving back and serving others.
Ellery Clark began teaching the new Entrepreneurship class this semester to 7th and 8th graders in the College Prep Academy. He highlights one person each week and has his students study that person’s life. Clark expects his students to come prepared to learn, and wants them to be motivated by the lives of others so they can also achieve their dreams.
After listening to Mrs.Clark, Principal Melba Davis said, “Students left inspired, filled with lessons about business, hard work, and life.” Mrs. Clark reminded students that they should never give up, and she encouraged the students to follow their dreams.
Several students had their own Build-A-Bears as they listened and took photos with Mrs. Clark at the end of the class. “Mrs. Maxine Clark’s dedication to education is amazing, and her genuine concern for students and their success in life is obvious as she talked about ways for students to excel,” said Supt. Tiffany Anderson. “Maxine Clark’s visit to Jennings has encouraged students to continue to work hard, dream big, and to be of service to others.” (story provided by Jennings School District)
