Christine Ries, a fifth-grade teacher at Combs Elementary School in the Ferguson-Florissant School District, received the 2013 Outstanding Elementary School Science Teacher of Missouri award from the Science Teachers of Missouri (STOM), a state chapter of the National Science Teachers Association.

Ries received the honor for her outstanding commitment and ongoing contribution to science education. She has served as a teacher at Combs Elementary School in the Ferguson-Florissant School District for 14 years
