The St. Louis Oversight Committee, a citizen-led group, is hosting a meeting Thursday, April 24  from 7-9 p.m. at the Florissant Civic Center in an effort to  assist in the cleanup of the St. Louis  Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) Sites.

FUSRAP sites in St. Louis include the St. Louis Airport site and the Hazelwood Interim Storage Site on Latty Avenue.

This meeting is an informational meeting with presentations by representatives from several government agencies. It is not related to the recent cancer-related  lawsuit regarding Coldwater Creek.

At the meeting, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be providing an update on the FUSRAP sites.

In addition, the Environmental Protection Agency will give a brief overview on the recent flyover of Coldwater Creek. Staff from the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry will discuss cancer and the environment, and staff from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will present information on their recent analysis of cancer incidence in the Coldwater Creek area.

Staff from these agencies, as well as the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will be available before and after the meeting to address questions and concerns.

The St. Louis Oversight Committee is an independent group of community leaders which serve in consultative and participatory roles with the cleanup of the St. Louis FUSRAP Sites. The Committee provides comments, recommendations, and constructive criticism for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in its efforts to clean up these sites. The Oversight Committee ensures that residents’ questions are answered to the fullest extent possible.
