The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce recently selected Howard A. Nimmons, owner of Nimmons Wealth Management in Old Town Florissant, as its 2013 Outstanding Business Person of the Year.  Nimmons, who has served as chamber board secretary since 2011, will be honored during the chamber’s Annual Outstanding Business Person of the Year and Installation Dinner on Friday, April 12, beginning at 6 p.m. at Norwood Hills Country Club.

“I am very honored to receive this award,” Nimmons said.  “The Chamber has been an integral part of our business plan from the beginning.   As members of the Chamber, we have enjoyed many close relationships over the years.  We have gained much more than just business opportunities by our membership in the Chamber.”

“This wonderful community has made us feel welcome and like insiders from the very beginning,”  he added.

Nimmons has been an active member of the Greater North County Chamber since 1996-the same year he and his wife, Carolyn, started their business.  They moved their business to Old Town Florissant in 1998, influenced largely by Don and Grace Zykan, who they met at an Old Town Partners meeting.  They moved their home to Old Town Florissant on Valentine’s Day 1999.

Since opening his business, Nimmons has been involved with numerous business and professional organizations including North County Inc., having  served on the board of directors since 2000 and as treasurer and chairman 2004 and 2005. He’s been a member of the  Florissant Rotary Club, member since 1998, served as treasurer in 2002, and is president-elect for 2013; Valley Industries, member of the board of directors since 1999 and served as treasurer since 2007 to present; Lutheran Church of the Atonement, member since 1998 and served as president 2005-2009; and Old Town Partners, member since 1998, serving as treasurer since 2008. He also serves on the Commerce Bank Community Board, Florissant Parks Foundation, Historic Florissant Landmark Commission and Trustee of SSM DePaul Health Foundation.

Prior to living in Florissant, Howard served as a coach and board member of Ellisville Athletic Association, and served on the District Committee of the Greater Saint Louis Boy Scouts Association.
