The Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) recently awarded Florissant a storm sewer project on Flight Drive to alleviate yard and street flooding.
The Flight Drive design contract consists of preparations of plans and specifications for the construction of approximately 1,000 feet of 12-in to 24-inch diameter storm sewers.
“There are two ongoing major sanitary sewer relief projects with a combined engineering design and construction amount totaling over $8 million,” said Mayor Robert Lowery, Sr.
The first of these projects, the Daniel Boone Trunk Sewer and Channel Replacement Project, is currently under construction. The construction bid totaled over $3 million. Work is estimated to be completed this April.
The second project, which has been in the design phase in 1007, is the Fountain/Anthony Lateral Sanitary Sewer Relief Project. This project’s construction budget is estimated at over $4 million. Work is expected to last approximately 18 months once awarded this fall.
“There are now 20 sanitary and storm sewer relief projects in either the planning, design, or construction stages scheduled for 2008,” said Lowery. “The amount of watershed area dollars collected by the district will have the greatest return ever this year.”
