Residents of The Villa at Riverwood were in the spirit of giving recently when they presented the Hazelwood Police Explorers Post #9217 with a donation of $740.\u00a0\u00a0 Proceeds from a holiday craft bazaar, silent auction, and recycling efforts with aluminum cans were combined for this final total.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Villa at Riverwood has a very active group of independent seniors that cares about the community.\u00a0 We looked at all the different organizations we could raise money for and decided to support the Hazelwood Police Department because of how good they\u2019ve been to us,\u201d Fran Jackson, RN, BA, LNAJ, The Villa at Riverwood executive director, said.\u00a0 \u201cHazelwood police officers come whenever and wherever we need them.\u00a0 We really respect and appreciate them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Residents at The Villa also see the value of supporting the department\u2019s efforts to interest youth in law enforcement as a future career, which explains why they made the donation to Hazelwood\u2019s Police Explorers Post #9217.\u00a0 The Villa\u2019s activity director, Pam Bockhorst, and the Resident Council worked on organizing the craft bazaar.\u00a0 Many of the residents showed off their creativity by making crafts for the holidays.\u00a0 They also auctioned off different things from the community such as furniture, paintings, and other knick-knacks.<\/p>\n
In addition, The Villa at Riverwood has joined the City of Hazelwood\u2019s recycling efforts by collecting aluminum cans.\u00a0 One of the residents takes these cans to a recycling center and then brings back the cash.\u00a0 The management staff decided to include this recycling money in the donation to the Police Explorers as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
