At the core of each Dining Divas outing is companionship.\u00a0 Thankfully.<\/p>\n

If it was all about the food, we\u2019d be begging for a do-over after this month\u2019s dinner.\u00a0 Making the restaurant and our meals the center of our get-togethers could have led to the demise of the Divas years ago.<\/p>\n

Luckily, we never give the restaurants that much credit or control over our enjoyment with the ladies.\u00a0 Why would we?\u00a0 This month\u2019s dinner may not rank high enough to even give it another try, but we still had a great time.\u00a0 And thankfully, we had hot men to come to our rescue.<\/p>\n

We decided to try out Gulf Shores on Olive Road.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t a first for a few of the Divas.\u00a0 Those that had been there before remembered the full dining room and the entertaining live music.\u00a0 Not surprisingly, we couldn\u2019t remember much of what we ate before.<\/p>\n

Reservations are tricky.\u00a0 You can only get a reservation with parties of 6 or more, and you can\u2019t be seated until all in your party arrive.\u00a0 The host wasn\u2019t paying too close attention as he assumed when our group arrived, we were all there.\u00a0 The Always Late for Dinner Diva showed up her average 10 minutes late.\u00a0 Luckily for her, he just couldn\u2019t add.<\/p>\n

Our waitress happily shared the drink special for the evening, but her happiness faded from there.\u00a0 She seemed to be on a \u201cneed to know\u201d basis.\u00a0 \u201cI need to know your order\u201d and that was it.\u00a0 Whereas asking about separate checks seems to be more of the norm these days, especially when you\u2019re serving a group of women, she didn\u2019t seem to care.<\/p>\n

I guess maybe that was the only way to guarantee her 18% tip as it was already included in the bill.\u00a0 Separate checks are not a big deal these days.\u00a0 We probably would have tipped better (20% is way easier math).<\/p>\n

Lately, a few of the Divas have been honing their math skills via slot machines and casinos.\u00a0 Unfortunately, their return on investments declined during their tripping adventure to Indiana.<\/p>\n

The Powerful Diva has been working on her math skills too only with hers she used formulas and used them on employees.\u00a0 Simple formulas.\u00a0 Drinking alcohol on the job plus driving equals termination.\u00a0 Basic math; yet, the employee was still surprised.<\/p>\n

The Math Teaching Diva described Gulf Shores easily.\u00a0 It\u2019s nothing to write home about.\u00a0 They\u2019ve got a niche with the New Orleans style cuisine, but the food\u2019s not that impressive.\u00a0\u00a0 The Hot Crab and Artichoke dip and the Shrimp tacos were well received, but everything else was just okay.\u00a0 We could have gotten better at Red Lobster according to the Traveling Diva.<\/p>\n

So needless to say, we were disappointed in Gulf Shores.\u00a0 The most positive part of the restaurant is that it\u2019s located directly across from the movie theater.\u00a0 And this evening, the Divas outing didn\u2019t stop with dinner.\u00a0 We went to see \u201cMagic Mike,\u201d and let\u2019s just say, it was, well, magical.<\/p>\n

Not unlike our dinners, the storyline may have been bland; yet this time it didn\u2019t really matter.\u00a0 The entertainment alone had plenty of spice to it.\u00a0 Just like with food, the presentation is key and\u2026beautiful.\u00a0 We may have paid too much for our dinners, but we got our money\u2019s worth in the movie the first two minutes in.<\/p>\n

As the Good-Humored Diva said, we all enjoyed our after-dinner treat of Channing, Matthew, and Joe.\u00a0 We\u2019ll skip dessert any night for that.<\/p>\n
