\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2Battery Recycling Program<\/p>\n

CASH FOR CANS PROGRAM RUNS THROUGH OCTOBER<\/p>\n

Florissant is participating in the national Cans for Cash recycling program. Mayor Robert Lowery stated that there are only two cities in Missouri participating.<\/p>\n

The contest will award twelve $5,000 awards to participating cities that recycle the most cans. The collection period is from Oct. 1-30.<\/p>\n

The mayor urges all Florissant residents to join the challenge by bringing their aluminum cans to the city’s recycling center or any other aluminum collection site with city limits.<\/p>\n

The city has operated a recycling center at St. Ferdinand Park for more than ten years. The center collects aluminum cans, glass, cardboard, tin cans, paper products, and cardboard. There is no charge for residents to use the service.<\/p>\n

BATTERY RECYCLING PROGRAM IS UNDERWAY<\/p>\n

Florissant’s Environmental Quality Commision and Mayor Robert Lowery, Sr. have announced the continuation of the city’s battery recycling program. Used batteries can be taken to Batteries Plus, 113 N. Hwy. 67 to be disposed of and recycled.<\/p>\n

“Batteries Plus is the first business in Florissant to climb on board the Cool Cities Initiative,” stated Mayor Lowery. Any business in Florissant is asked to call the mayor’s office to participate in the initiative.<\/p>\n

In the near future, the city’s website (www.florissantmo.com) will have a link where residents can keep up to date on the Cool Cities Iniative and environmental concerns. <\/p>\n

The mayor and the Environmental Quality Commission are reminding residents to use Florissant’s recycling center at St. Ferdinand Park, The center accepts cardboard, glass, aluminum, plastic, newspapers and phonebooks.
