Dooley joined other local Industries Sheltered Workshop for a Transfer of Land Deed ceremony held at Valley Industries\u2019 facility in Hazelwood.<\/p>\n<p>Ameren Missouri donated a \u00a0parcel of land (approximately 22,000 square-feet) to Valley Industries, which is directly southeast of the workshop\u2019s facility in Hazelwood with an estimated property value of $60,000.<\/p>\n<p>This parcel of donated land will be used to improve traffic flow and safety for Valley Industries\u2019 workers by adding a second entrance onto McDonnell Boulevard.\u00a0 Currently, there is only one entrance that handles a high volume of traffic every morning and afternoon when five Metro buses, nine Oats Vans, seven Call-A-Ride vehicles, as well as more than 30 private automobiles transport workers to and from the facility.<\/p>\n<p>The second entrance will allow the workshop to direct the traffic around the front of the building in order to make the parking lot safer for workers.\u00a0 Also, it will create an accessible driveway for large trucks to deliver production supplies and pick up finished products at the loading docks behind the building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in the business of providing dignified, meaningful employment for nearly 200 adults with developmental disabilities.\u00a0 And, this includes making it safe for our workers to arrive and leave our facility,\u201d said Hank Bruemmer, Valley Industries board of directors president.\u00a0 \u201cMost of the people who work for us can\u2019t drive, so they depend on various forms of transportation.\u00a0 The second entrance will make our parking lot safer by improving the flow of traffic and making things less chaotic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The workshop specializes in kit building, collation, assembly and disassembly, packaging, shrink-wrapping, blister packaging, mailing and UPS\/FedEx shipping, cleaning, and commercial laundry.\u00a0 It was the first sheltered workshop in the St. Louis area to achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification through BSI America, Inc.\u00a0 This international standard of quality excellence is recognized in 143 countries.<\/p>\n<p>According to Valley Industries executive director Jim Guyre, \u201cOur workers are very good at what they do.\u00a0 No job is too big or too small.\u00a0 They really enjoy coming to work every day and being productive citizens of this community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dooley praised Valley Industries for its efforts in providing value to the North County region.\u00a0 \u201cWhen you give someone a job, you bring value to that person\u2019s life.\u00a0 What they\u2019re doing here at Valley Industries is extremely important and speaks to every individual in our community,\u201d said Dooley.\u00a0 \u201cEverybody has value and the right to be given an opportunity to work toward their full potential.\u00a0 Valley Industries is doing a tremendous job, there\u2019s no doubt about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dooley also went on to commend Ameren Missouri for being an active corporate citizen in the St. Louis region.\u00a0 \u201cWe always talk about the St. Louis metropolitan area being a great community.\u00a0 The reason for this is because we have some great corporate sponsors who have stepped up to the plate each and every time.\u00a0 And, Ameren Missouri is one of them.\u00a0 We can always depend on Ameren being somewhere and bringing value to our local neighborhoods,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>In reference to finalizing the transfer of the land deed to Valley Industries, Ameren Missouri senior vice president of customer operations Richard Mark said, \u201cThis is a perfect example of how two corporate neighbors can work together in producing a successful outcome.\u201d\u00a0 In addition, he mentioned Ameren\u2019s concern for the safety of Valley Industries\u2019 workers as one of the determining factors in donating the parcel of land.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ameren Gives Big Parcel of\u00a0Land To Valley Industries &nbsp; \u00a0St. Louis County Executive Charlie A.
