--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 96\/150;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from this show benefit the Duckie DeMere Scholarship fund which has presented over $45,000 to\u00a0high school seniors active in the performing arts.<\/p>\n<p>A cast of 40 performers will sing, dance and portray the memorable characters who surround that stingiest of curmudgeons, Ebenezer\u00a0Scrooge.\u00a0\u00a0Scrooge, portrayed by veteran actor Paul James, humbugs the holiday until the spirit of his former partner Marley, along with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, open his heart and mind to the reality that mankind is his business.<\/p>\n<p>Hawthorne\u2019s version of this great story has become a cherished tradition since the company first presented the show in 2007.\u00a0\u00a0Nancy Crouse adapted the Dickens\u2019 novella and designed and directs the production which features a large cast of talented actors, singers, musicians and dancers.<\/p>\n<p>The musical direction is by Mary and Ike Eichenberger, and Julie Strathman-McCameron adds fun-filled dances.\u00a0\u00a0The production features beautiful costumes created by Jean Heckmann.\u00a0\u00a0The key set element is a clock face, complete with magically\u00a0moving hands going both forwards and backwards.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0 A Christmas Carol\u00a0<\/em>reunites many Hawthorne performers, including John Roberson and Kathryn Weber as the Cratchits,\u00a0\u00a0Kay Love as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Pam Geppert as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Robert Doyle as Marley and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.\u00a0\u00a0Ike Eichenberger and Dottie Bertolino are the delightful\u00a0Fezziwigs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hawthorne Players will present Charles Dickens\u2019 classic story A Christmas Carol on\u00a0Dec. 16 at 8 p.m., Dec. 17 at 2 and 7 p.m., and Dec. 18 at 2 p.m..\u00a0\u00a0Admission is $14 for adults;
