--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 99\/150;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Thanksgiving Day may be the official day of gratitude, but the first Thursday of the month proved to be just as powerful for the Dining Divas.\u00a0 We were extremely thankful for the fabulous meal, but the lessons and blessings we shared together made us even more grateful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Lesson #1 \u2013<\/strong> Don\u2019t assume St. Louisans know how to drive in the rain.\u00a0 It wouldn\u2019t have mattered if the restaurant we chose this month would have been in Illinois, West County, or downtown, it still would have taken most of the Divas about an hour to get there.\u00a0 Traffic didn\u2019t cooperate this dreary, rainy night as we all met up at Sanctuaria in the Grove Neighborhood on Manchester.<\/p>\n<p>Sanctuaria was the perfect location for our November dining experience.\u00a0\u00a0 When I heard of Sanctuaria, I thought that it would be a sanctuary of some sort.\u00a0 Well, it is a place of worship, and the Day of the Dead is the focus.\u00a0 A gothic-themed atmosphere with eerie masks and skeletons may not sound like it would lead to a pleasant experience, but it definitely did.<\/p>\n<p>Our streak continued with another charming waiter this month.\u00a0 He recommended the Frita Sliders, pork and chorizo with cheese and fried potatoes.\u00a0 He\u2019d already had us at \u201chello\u201d, but his recommendation won our hearts.\u00a0 We had to order more sliders as the entire table loved them.\u00a0 We loved him for it.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian Diva rarely passes up eggplant, and she\u2019s glad she didn\u2019t pass up the Stuffed Eggplant. \u00a0The Sassy Diva ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes with crabmeat and was finally silenced.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t hear her complain anymore.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Lesson #2 \u2013<\/strong> Tapas does not mean you\u2019ll go hungry.\u00a0 One of the first comments the Sassy Diva made to the Garbage Disposal Diva was \u201cwhere are we going after this to eat?\u201d\u00a0 They both acknowledged that the idea of a \u201csmall\u201d plate was never a good idea.\u00a0 Thankfully, these two didn\u2019t have to make a stop at Taco Bell on their way home.<\/p>\n<p>The Picky Diva shocked the others again as she continued her two month streak of ordering outside of her safety zone.\u00a0\u00a0 Everyone warned her that she would dislike the Tostones (also know as plantain chips).\u00a0 Tostones sound much more appetizing than \u201cdried banana chips\u201d, but she surprised everyone as she enjoyed the chips dipped into either the black bean or the tangy garlic dip.<\/p>\n<p>Appropriately titled, the Piquillo Poppers with Diablo Verde turned up the heat.\u00a0 They were red peppers filled with a goat cheese blend and served with spicy green devil sauce.\u00a0 And the Wicked Good Shrimp served with a spicy sauce and bread for dipping was wicked good and spicy hot.\u00a0 The Picky Diva turned devilish red.\u00a0 It\u2019s appropriate at Sanctuaria that everything we had we practically worshiped.<\/p>\n<p>With the Coordinator Diva under the weather and the Talkative Diva worn out, we\u2019d almost decided to cancel the night.\u00a0 We were so glad we didn\u2019t.\u00a0 We had a surprise visit by a Diva regular from years passed.\u00a0 She hadn\u2019t been able to join us much in the last year, and we were so grateful to see her again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lesson #3 \u2013<\/strong> Sometimes the best therapy is in a restaurant surrounded by girlfriends.\u00a0 There wasn\u2019t room for small talk this night.\u00a0 We had greater issues and concerns to discuss.\u00a0 Medical treatments.\u00a0 Bills.\u00a0 Loss.\u00a0 It may have not been a night to \u201cget away from it all\u201d, but as the Colorful Diva said, \u201cThere is nothing better than good friends to sit around and enjoy each other.\u201d\u00a0 We may have arrived angry at the world for our ridiculous commute, but we left being grateful for the many blessings we have and the friends we have to share them with.<\/p>\n<p>And
