The Dining Divas Bet On PW Pizza and Lose; Some Menus Items Good, Most Only So-So<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each month, it\u2019s a roll of the dice when it comes to choosing the restaurant for the Dining Divas.\u00a0 And sadly, I\u2019ve been know to come up with snake eyes a time or two.<\/p>\n

We went to PW Pizza on Chouteau in St. Louis and in the same building as Vin de Set.\u00a0 Perhaps it\u2019s the building because when the Dining Divas dined at Vin de Set years ago, we wondered then what all the hype was about.\u00a0 And that was the feeling of PW Pizza.<\/p>\n

Working downtown, I\u2019m familiar with most of the restaurants in the area.\u00a0 PW Pizza is one restaurant that is on the dining list of many of my fellow employees.\u00a0 But I continue to wonder why.<\/p>\n

We were delighted when we first arrived and savored the scent coming from the wood-fire grills.\u00a0 Our eyes glistened when we immediately noticed the peanut butter pie displayed so fabulously at the entrance.\u00a0 And the menu looked appealing, but that was about it.<\/p>\n

The entire group had barely all been together for five minutes when our anxious waiter came to take our order.\u00a0 We sent him away a couple more times.\u00a0 We have to take a break from our conversations to order, and for some of us, that\u2019s hard to do.\u00a0 The Back-To-School Diva had to share some stories with us about her return to the classroom as a student after being away for 20 years.\u00a0 Of course, the Teaching Divas assured her she would not flunk out as her extreme fear had yet to subside.<\/p>\n

Then there were the stories from the New Adventures of the Dating Diva.\u00a0 She\u2019s back in the swing of things again, and she had many of us laughing over the Stalker Dating Diva she almost became.\u00a0 Actually, she\u2019d given up that title years ago, but we chuckled about her \u201cboyfriend\u201d she\u2019d had for years, only he didn\u2019t know it.\u00a0 Sometimes you\u2019d think we were all teenagers instead of most who are parents with teens.<\/p>\n

Once we had time for the waiter, the Sassy Diva pointed out that the restaurant had a selection of over 90 beers, which is great for beer drinkers, but for the Coke drinker, they only had Pepsi.\u00a0\u00a0 Our waiter was not going to win here.\u00a0 But he didn\u2019t help himself much at all throughout the night.<\/p>\n

Several of us ordered a Spinach Salad with warm bacon dressing.\u00a0 All of us got a spinach salad with no dressing.\u00a0 Then we told our waiter that we needed dressing.\u00a0 He brought out vinaigrette.\u00a0 Most of us had already poured the dressing onto our salads before we realized his mistake again.<\/p>\n

Maybe we would have like to have a beverage with our salad without dressing.\u00a0 Refills were at a minimum that night.\u00a0 Most times, our glasses were empty (unless, of course, you were enjoying one of the 90 beers choices).<\/p>\n

We shared Roasted Red Pepper Hummus with pita bread and enjoyed it.\u00a0\u00a0 The Food Outreach Winner, the Spinach, Artichokes, and Meatballs Pizza, won favorite recipe this year, but the Dining Divas wouldn\u2019t have given it a prize.\u00a0 No gold medal winner here.\u00a0 It was just average.\u00a0 The blue ribbon winner by this group was definitely the Meaty Calzone.\u00a0 Everybody wanted a chunk of it, and everybody loved it.<\/p>\n

And then we were left with dessert.\u00a0 The Carrot Cake with cream-cheese frosting and raisins and nuts was worth the calories.\u00a0 But the Peanut Butter pie\u2026the one that tantalized us in the doorway immediately when we entered the restaurant\u2026it let us down.\u00a0 Just average.\u00a0 Although the Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Diva still managed to finish it off the next day.<\/p>\n

In math terms, as the Mathematics Divas may say, average is acceptable.\u00a0 In Dining Divas terms, it\u2019s not worth it.\u00a0 Odds are the next roll of the dice will be better than\u00a0 PW Pizza.\u00a0 And I\u2019ll take those odds.<\/p>\n
