\u00a0 \u00a0Mayor Thomas Schneider contends that this was one of the best ever Florissant Fall Festivals.\u00a0 “We had great weather and a great turnout,” said the mayor. Several thousand people attended the one-day event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 This was the 14th annual Fall Festival event that was sponsored by the City of Florissant, Old Town Partners, the Missouri Arts Council, and the Regional Arts Commission.\u00a0 Tens of thousands of people spent their day on rue St. Francois enjoying an array of arts and crafts booths, food and beverage booths and plenty of entertainment.<\/p>\n

There was a special tree dedication that was held prior to the Fall Festival at City Hall. In honor of Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Wangari Muta Maathis from Kenya who just lost her battle with cancer and was a champion of women\u2019s rights and environmental protection world wide.<\/p>\n

The annual Chili Cook-Off contest was held in front of Click Heating & Cooling. First place went to Sharon Gianino, second place went to Larry Schuettenberg and third place went to Ward 5 Councilman Keith Schildroth.<\/p>\n

The Florissant Valley Community College had their art fair on the front lawn of City Hall.\u00a0 The Florissant Police Department in conjunction with MOCHIPS gave out free child identification kits in the City Council Chambers which was a huge success.<\/p>\n

The Billy Peek Band performed in front of a huge crowd and they put on a great show for everyone.\u00a0 Other performers included Doug Jacobs, Dixie Rhythm Kings, Cookie the Clown, Dan Sproat, Pat and Anna Auberry Accordian, Florissant Valley Barbershoppers, Carol Brady, Kraig Kalkbrenner, North County Big Band, Seven Weeks After, Spent, eXcede featuring Abigail Stahlschmidt, Buckhannon Brothers and Bryson Gerard who all do an outstanding job entertaining the crowd.<\/p>\n

If you were not exhausted from all the walking up and down on rue St. Francois, Sacred Heart Church was having its annual Oktoberfest that was also well attended.\u00a0 There were plenty of carnival rides and booths for all ages for everyone to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Mark your calendar for Sunday, Nov. 6 for the Veterans Day Parade and Friday, Nov. 18 when the City of Florissant will be celebrating its 225th birthday at St. Ferdinand Shrine that evening\u00a0 More details will be coming on the big 225th<\/sup> anniversary\u00a0plans that will be held on an near the Shrine<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
