McCluer North Football is on a three-game winning streak after losing the season opener to Jefferson City while Lutheran North, in the second era of legendary head coach Mike Russell, is off to a 4-0 start.<\/p>\n

Both however will be put to the test this weekend as the 2011 Football season reaches Week Five. McCluer North will travel to the St. Francois County community of Farmington Sept. 23 for a 7 p.m. game against the Knights. Lutheran North welcomes 2010 Class Three Runner Up John Burroughs for a Metro League (formerly ABC League) game Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n

McCluer North,<\/strong> 3-1, is coming off wins over Pattonville, 25-7 Sept 10 at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, and previously undefeated Lafayette, 27-0 at home Sept. 17. Galen Brown ran for two touchdowns and passed for a touchdown while passing for a two-point conversion against Pattonville while Keith Smith ran for two touchdowns against Lafayette. The Stars, who had a bye last year, replaced Beaumont on Farmington\u2019s schedule and the Knights have outscored four opponents combined 191-24 this year.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Lutheran North<\/strong> is coming off Metro League wins over Lutheran South (35-23 at home Sept. 10) and Priory (49-14 Sept. 17 at Priory) while John Burroughs is 3-1, losing Sept. 10 at home (45-20) to 4-0 Mary Institute-Country Day School. Lutheran North, who has defeated Lutheran South by an average margin of 52 points the previous six seasons (2005-2010), overcame three deficits including a 23-20 margin in the fourth quarter by scoring 15 points for the win while the win over Priory snapped a four-game losing streak to the Rebels. In the last two games Glenn Bradford passed for four touchdowns while running for two and Ryan Moore ran for five touchdowns including three against Priory.<\/p>\n

Trinity Catholic <\/strong>will be playing 1 p.m. Sept. 24 at Westminster Christian Academy who moved their campus from Ladue Rd. in Creve Coeur to Maryville Center Dr. (off Interstate 64, U.S. Route 40-61) in Town & Country. Trinity, 3-1, has outscored three teams at home by a combined margin of 155-29 including wins over Bishop DuBourg, 58-16 Sept. 9, and Imagine College Prep, 44-0 in the rain Sept. 16, while Westminster is 1-3 including an 18-7 home loss Sept. 3 to Lutheran North. Five Titans have multiple-touchdown performances the last two games including Tyler Jones and Marquis West, who each scored four touchdowns.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody is working as hard as a team,\u201d said Trinity head coach Leon Hite. \u201cIt\u2019s exciting to see everybody play.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 HAZELWOOD SCHOOLS <\/strong>— Hazelwood East is 2-2 but is the best record among Hazelwood School District high schools and the Spartans host 1-3 (yes 1-3) Hazelwood Central Sept. 24, scheduled to start at 1 p.m..<\/p>\n

Hazelwood West, meanwhile, is 0-4, and the Wildcats visit 0-4 Riverview Gardens Sept. 24 in a 1 p.m. game and if West loses the Wildcats could play another winless team in McCluer, at West Oct. 1 at 2 p.m., if McCluer (currently 0-4) loses to 1-3 Pattonville Sept. 24, 1 p.m. at Lindenwood University.<\/p>\n

East rebounded from a 49-0 shut out Sept. 9 at Jefferson City with at 34-10 win Sept. 17 at West as Ahmad Huddeleston and Robert Polk combined for 239 yards rushing and four Spartan touchdowns. Central has been outscored the last two games, 87-3, in losses at Columbia-Rock Bridge, 40-3 Sept. 9, and 47-0 to Kirkwood, Sept. 17 at home, while West\u00a0 lost 27-9 at home Sept. 10, to Columbia-Hickman.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
