<\/strong><\/p>\n Hazelwood is holding its first Recycle Day on Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at St. Louis Mills. It\u2019s a free event giving everyone an opportunity to get rid of recyclable items they don\u2019t need any more.<\/p>\n No tires or hazardous materials such as paints, solvents, and chemicals are being accepted.<\/p>\n “Spring is the best time of year for residents to clean their homes and get rid of things they don\u2019t need any more that take up a lot of space,” said Mayor Matthew Robinson, City of Hazelwood.\u00a0 “Instead of pitching them in the trash, which eventually causes them to clutter up our landfills, we\u2019re encouraging people to do their part to protect our environment by bringing these items to our \u2018Recycle Day\u2019 event on June 4.”<\/p>\n Vendors will be collecting specific items:<\/p>\n \u2022 Allied Waste: paper products including newspapers, magazines, catalogs, phone books, paperback books, wrapping paper, jugs, soap bottles, food boxes, tubs and beverage cases; aluminum cans, clean foil, food\/pie trays, metal food cans, empty aerosol cans, glass, food\/beverage containers, plastics with #2, #3 on the bottom<\/p>\n \u2022 Web Innovations & Technology Services (WITS): computers, monitors, hard drives\/keyboards; office\/business equipment, telecommunications devices, including phones, clocks, TVs, blenders, toasters, irons, washing machines\/dryers, dishwashers, furnaces, hot water heaters, home medical equipment, lawn mowers, tillers, tools, air conditioners, humidifiers, old motors, transformers, electrical equipment, power supplies, and car batteries.<\/p>\n \u2022 Home Depot: fluorescent bulbs, CFL light bulbs.<\/p>\n \u2022 Remains, Inc.: used clothing, linens, paired shoes, purses, belts and soft or hard toys (no more than 12 ” tall)<\/p>\n \u2022 Valley Industries: kitchenware, clothing, books, music, movies, home furnishings, jewelry, collectibles, toys, paintings and unique gifts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" (Posted May 19, 2011) Hazelwood is holding its first Recycle Day on Saturday, June 4, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at St. Louis Mills.
