One impression was quite evident at the recent Mayor\u2019s Forum held at the JFK Center.<\/p>\n

All six candidates share much of the same views about the City of Florissant. It\u2019s a great place to raise a family, the police department is among the best, the programs the city offers is a major plus especially for senior citizens and the mayor and city council has to live with an austere city budget.<\/p>\n

It was the no-nonsense approach the League of Women Voters utilized for the candidates forum, which was co-sponsored by the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Florissant,\u00a0 that prevented direct rebuttals between the candidates.<\/p>\n

Each was given the opportunity to have an opening and closing statement. The hour and half time in between was used to ask each candidate the same question, selected from 3×5\u201d white cards from the audience.<\/p>\n

For many it was an opportunity to hear first-hand all the candidates\u2019 views; for others they\u2019re wasn\u2019t a lot of new information presented.<\/p>\n

The six candidates for Mayor of Florissant in the April 5th<\/sup> election are: Councilmen Tom Schneider and Andrew Podleski, Hazelwood School Board director Mark Behlmann, former council members Bob Garrett and Sue Geerling, and former state representative Michael Spreng.<\/p>\n
