Police Chief \u00a0Carl Wolf \u00a0was honored for 25 years of service to the city \u00a0by Mayor Matt Robinson and the City Council at the last meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n

In recognition of an illustrious law enforcement career that has spanned over 40 years, Carl Wolf was honored recently for 25 years of service as the Chief of Police of Hazelwood, Mo., at a City Council meeting.<\/p>\n

His creative ingenuity and superb leadership skills in developing numerous crime fighting programs, which have been emulated by police departments across the state and throughout the country, explains why Hazelwood continues to be on the cutting edge of the latest innovations.<\/p>\n

In addition to being one of 18 police departments in the state of Missouri with International Accreditation status, the Hazelwood Police Department was one of only three around the world that received the 2010 \u201cExcellence in Victim Services\u201d Award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.\u00a0 The department has also earned distinction for its efforts in creating the School Resource Officer and Volunteer in Police Service programs.<\/p>\n

Chief Wolf began his law enforcement career as a police officer for Ladue in 1970.\u00a0 He attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Science degree in Urban Affairs and Policy Analysis with a specialty in Public Administration.\u00a0 He graduated from the Greater St. Louis Police Academy as well as the 28th session of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program.\u00a0 Prior to his current position, he served as Chief of Police for the following two police departments in Illinois:\u00a0 Highland; and Dupo.<\/p>\n

In 1994, Wolfe was named Missouri Police Chief of the Year.\u00a0 Six years later, he received the Missouri Police Chiefs Association\u2019s Distinguished Service Award.\u00a0 Other leadership roles given to him include the following: serving as a Commissioner of the REJIS Commission; serving on the Board of Directors of the Major Case Squad; and being appointed as Chairman of the North County MEG unit and Chair of the Regional Computer Crime Education and Enforcement Group.<\/p>\n

Currently, Chief Wolf is serving his third three-year term as the Vice President\/Treasurer of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.\u00a0 This has given him an opportunity to travel the world and promote the City of Hazelwood, as well as his own police department.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank Carl for his many years of dedicated service to our community,\u201d said Mayor Matthew Robinson, City of Hazelwood.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve been on the city council for 15 years and it\u2019s been a pleasure working with him.\u00a0 His limitless resources and contacts in the International Association of Chiefs of Police have proven to be beneficial to making Hazelwood a safe place for our residents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chief Wolf has a deep commitment to helping today\u2019s young people become our country\u2019s future leaders.\u00a0 He was recently honored by the St. Louis County Juvenile Justice Association (SLCJJA) with the 2010 Corrigan-Wiesman Partnership Award for his efforts in developing the Hazelwood Youth Leadership Academy.\u00a0 He also received a Missouri House of Representatives Resolution, which congratulated him for making a difference in the lives of local youth.<\/p>\n

In his spare time, Chief Wolf plays an active role in the community.\u00a0 He has served as President of the Florissant Valley Kiwanis, President of the Emerson YMCA (twice), and a Board member of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce.\u00a0 He is currently the Chairman of Valley Industries\u2019 Board of Directors and plays a key role in organizing the Mayors\u2019 Shamrock Ball every year as a fund-raiser for this not-for-profit organization.\u00a0 In addition to receiving the North County Inc. Recognition Award for Service, he was chosen as the recipient of Northwest Chamber\u2019s \u201cVolunteer of the Year\u201d Award in 2007.<\/p>\n

Chief Wolf just married his new bride, Colleen, several months ago.\u00a0 Together, they have eight children and eight grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Other Hazelwood Employees with Milestone Service Anniversaries<\/p>\n

At the same City Council meeting, the following two Hazelwood employees were recognized for their many years of service:<\/p>\n

Lt. Michael Brady started working as a patrol officer for the City of Hazelwood on February 10, 1986, and was honored for his 25 years of dedicated service.\u00a0 He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Coordinator) in January 1998 and later promoted to his current rank of Lieutenant in January 2008. Brady serves as a Watch Commander during the afternoon shifts.<\/p>\n

Capt. Gerard Hagedorn gained an interest in firefighting through his membership with Hazelwood\u2019s Fire Explorer Post #9341.\u00a0 He began his career with the City on November 11, 2000, and recently celebrated his 10th year service anniversary.\u00a0 Hagedorn is a graduate of the St. Louis County Fire Academy and is a licensed paramedic.\u00a0 He has achieved certification as an Acting Captain and Level 2 Apparatus Driver\/Operator.\u00a0 In addition, Hagedorn is a recipient of the City Life Saving Award and has received several letters of appreciation from his patients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
