Work<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hazelwood City Council, at its recent council meeting, passed resolutions to authorize for a master plan for the Hazelwood Sports Complex and \u00a0to accept applications for federal funds for reconstruction of Fee Fee Road within the city limits<\/p>\n

In order to meet one of the requirements of a planning grant application for the Municipal Park Grant Commission, the council passed a resolution authorizing a grant-in-aid to be used for the development of a site improvement Master Plan for the Hazelwood Sports Complex, located at 4622 Aubuchon Road, and other surrounding property acquired by the City on Teson Road.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we get this grant, the monies would be used to hire a landscape architectural firm to analyze these properties, create a visual plan and provide cost estimates in order to fully utilize them together for the betterment of our community,\u201d said Doug Littlefield, Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division Supervisor.\u00a0 \u201cSome of our ideas for this visual plan include designated walking paths, a dog park, a police canine training facility, a community garden, possibly a picnic\/playground area, and overall aesthetic improvements to the properties.\u201d<\/p>\n

The planning grant would be an 80\/20 match with a maximum of $5,000 in available funds.\u00a0 The Municipal Park Commission would provide $4,000 with the City contributing the remaining $1,000.\u00a0 Littlefield intends to submit the planning grant application soon to the Municipal Park Grant Commission for consideration with those received from other municipalities.<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fee Fee Road Reconstruction<\/strong><\/p>\n

In response to East West Gateway Council\u2019s announcement about accepting applications for federal funds for local transportation projects, the Hazelwood\u00a0 Council passed a resolution endorsing the submission of a grant application for the reconstruction of Fee Fee Road south of McDonnell Boulevard to Anglum.<\/p>\n

Improvements to Fee Fee Road, south of Anglum, were made as part of the Hazelwood Logistics Center redevelopment.\u00a0 And, the section of Fee Fee Road north of McDonnell Boulevard to Chapel Ridge is scheduled for construction in 2012.\u00a0 Reconstruction of the roadway south of McDonnell Boulevard to Anglum would complete the improvements made to this transportation corridor.<\/p>\n

At a total estimated cost of $2,004,000, the project would entail reconstructing the existing roadway with new curb, gutter and storm water features, as well as the addition of a center turn lane and a landscaped median.\u00a0 At 80\/20, the federal government would be responsible for $1,603,200 and the City of Hazelwood would contribute $400,800.\u00a0 In addition, the City would be required to pay an upfront .5% ($8,016) administrative fee that would be submitted with the grant application. This reconstruction project is slated to begin in 2014.<\/p>\n

Fee Fee Road is a main artery that runs through the heart of Hazelwood\u2019s industrial section.\u00a0 Reconstruction of this roadway would prove to be vital in the free movement of goods and services by logics companies operating in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
