Downtown Hot Spot Proves to be <\/strong>Comfortable Breakfast Stop for Divas<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sundays can be lazy, especially in the winter.\u00a0 Lying by the fire while watching quality reality television (yes, that does include football and any \u201cReal Housewives\u201d) makes for the perfect afternoon.\u00a0 So when the Dining Divas made their annual Sunday brunch outing, we made sure the setting was relaxing.<\/p>\n

We picked Lucas Park Grille in downtown.\u00a0 Hesitantly, the Boring Diva agreed to the spot as flashbacks from years ago haunted her.\u00a0 Lucas Park turns into a weekend hot spot and place for many twentysomethings to throw back several drinks.\u00a0 The calm, relaxing atmosphere she hoped for didn\u2019t seem possible as she could only recall an overly-crowded thump-thumping environment that she gave up years ago.\u00a0 But Lucas Park Grille surprised us.<\/p>\n

We lounged.\u00a0 Okay, maybe we didn\u2019t lounge, but we could have as there were several couches and cushiony chairs.\u00a0 And we did get comfortable at our table that was right in front of a fireplace.<\/p>\n

We enjoyed quality reality television.\u00a0 Okay, maybe we didn\u2019t watch television although there were TV monitors showing football throughout the restaurant.\u00a0 But we did talk about our own quality reality, and that\u2019s just as dramatic as any \u201cReal Housewives.\u201d\u00a0 We enjoyed ourselves.<\/p>\n

The newest Grandma Diva proudly displayed photos of their addition to the family.\u00a0 We debated over the pronunciation of her grandson\u2019s name.\u00a0 Whatever happened to Tom, Bob, or Matt?\u00a0 You never had to debate their pronunciations.<\/p>\n

We shared New Year\u2019s Eve stories, and we\u2019re shocked to hear the Ornery Diva behaved herself all night.\u00a0 For the first time in years, she woke up on New Year\u2019s Day without a hangover.\u00a0 She must have been ill.<\/p>\n

We laughed about the Scheduled Diva\u2019s trek to the Lake over New Year\u2019s weekend.\u00a0 Unbeknownst to many, this Diva always has an itinerary in her head.\u00a0 Those closest to her realize that when things get off schedule, it throws her off.<\/p>\n

On the drive to the Lake, there was an unplanned delay that normally would have destroyed her excited mood.\u00a0 Not to mention the fact that the \u201cscheduled\u201d departure time of 10 a.m. was delayed for an hour.\u00a0\u00a0 But something actually changed inside her when the vehicle she was riding in decided it wasn\u2019t up for a trip to the Lake.\u00a0 Rather than letting the situation get her down or getting angry at the driver (what could he have done, except for possibly not ignore the \u201ccheck engine soon\u201d light for the past month), she took the opportunity to relax.<\/p>\n

There, with the car broken down sitting on the side of the road, she got comfortable and pulled out a book to read as the sun\u2019s rays kept her warm and made her forget that it was freezing outside.\u00a0 Even better, she was able to forget about that stupid schedule in her head.\u00a0 Here\u2019s to the new Spontaneous Diva!<\/p>\n

Lucas Park Grille doesn\u2019t serve a typical brunch, and many of us were excited about that.\u00a0 No temptations to overindulge at a buffet.\u00a0 No overspending on food we don\u2019t really want or like.\u00a0 Just breakfast.<\/p>\n

The LPG Country Style breakfast, named for \u201cLucas Park Grille\u201d, was fondly ordered as the LPGA breakfast for the Golfing Divas.\u00a0 It\u2019s your standard eggs, bacon or sausage, and hash browns.\u00a0 But they didn\u2019t just serve bacon.\u00a0 They served Applewood bacon\u2026which it our world means delicious bacon.<\/p>\n

First time around, the Risky Diva didn\u2019t appreciate the sausage that came with her meal.\u00a0 It was raw.\u00a0 But, hey, that happens.\u00a0 The kitchen staff was probably catching up on some quality reality television and not paying attention.\u00a0 Her second serving of sausage was much better.<\/p>\n

The Greek Diva enjoyed an extremely light and flaky bacon, eggs, and cheese croissant.\u00a0 The Guest Diva was the envy of the group as she tried out the frittata of the day which included eggs, turkey, spinach, and mushrooms.\u00a0 We wished someone had ordered the buttermilk pancakes as our neighboring loungers had.\u00a0 We weren\u2019t quite comfortable enough to ask for a bite.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the restaurant wasn\u2019t crowded, and we weren\u2019t in a hurry because it did take a lengthy amount of time to get our breakfasts.\u00a0 Then again, there was a photo shoot going on in the restaurant.\u00a0 Perhaps the kitchen staff had dual responsibilities that day.\u00a0 Cook and model.\u00a0 Probably not.\u00a0 More than likely they were enjoying some \u201cReal Housewives.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
