The owners and staff of White Auto Body on Dec.7 presented\u00a0 two refurbished vehicles to deserving individuals in the community.\u00a0\u00a0 White Auto Body has donated a vehicle for the last eleven years.\u00a0 This year will\u00a0 bring the number of car donations to twenty-six!<\/p>\n
Sania (no last name announced)\u00a0 and her children received a 2004 Toyota Corolla\u00a0 at the Florissant location with no upfront costs, six\u00a0 months of liability insurance, and a trunk load of gifts for the holidays.<\/p>\n
Sania is a 39-year old single mother of a son and daughter.\u00a0 She is a student at Florissant Valley Community College.\u00a0 Her 14-year old son Corry attends Trinity High School and 10-year old Jasmyne is home-schooled.<\/p>\n
Sania and her kids have endured some very difficult circumstances.\u00a0 Sania worked until September 2009 when Jasmyne became suddenly ill.\u00a0 Jasmyne was diagnosed with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (Atypical HUS).\u00a0 This is a rare and serious disease affecting approximately 400 children in the United States.\u00a0 Jasmyne had both kidneys removed in January 2010.\u00a0 She goes to Cardinal Glennon Children\u2019s Hospital three days a week for dialysis.\u00a0 Sania does not yet know if Jasmyne is a candidate for a kidney transplant.<\/p>\n
There\u00a0 wre many reasons that compelled White Auto Body to give serious consideration to Sania\u2019s application.\u00a0 Several times during the course of one conversation, Sania emphatically stated that she has to finish school so she can support her family and most importantly, she “refuses to give up”.\u00a0 This type of person who refuses to give up and wants to better their life is the exact type of applicant we look for.<\/p>\n
The objective of this program is to give someone a hand up, not a handout.\u00a0\u00a0 Recipients of the like\u00a0 \u201cnew\u201d cars make a tremendous effort to improve their lives\u00a0 and financial standing.\u00a0 Reliable transportation provides more opportunities to\u00a0 be successful.<\/p>\n
Individuals and organizations must first submit an application to White Auto\u00a0 Body.\u00a0 During the process, all applicants are required to explain how receiving\u00a0 an automobile will assist them in becoming self-sufficient.\u00a0 Candidates must be\u00a0 insurable and have a demonstrable need.<\/p>\n
