The Marching Wildcats of Hazelwood West High School are preparing for a trip to the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio in December.<\/p>\n
The bowl game is Dec. 29 and will be broadcast on ESPN. The game is a showdown between football teams from the Big 12 and Pacific-10 conferences.<\/p>\n
Aaron Jackson, band director, said the band will leave Hazelwood West on coach buses on Dec. 25 in the evening and return on Dec. 30. Sixty-six band members are participating. The cost of the trip is $947 per student. Parent chaperones are traveling with the band, as well as volunteering to drive the band\u2019s equipment trailer.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe band will participate in a field show competition and a parade review competition. We will perform music from our show, \u2018Zero Gravity,\u2019\u201d said Jackson.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the half-time performance, we will perform with other bands as one mass band,\u201d he continued. \u201cThe music is from the rock group Queen and includes the songs \u2018We are the Champions,\u2019 \u2018We Will Rock You,\u2019 \u2018Another One Bites the Dust\u2019 and \u2018Bohemian Rhapsody.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
To raise money for the trip, the band has sold pizzas, cookbooks and shirts, and held a trivia night and mouse races, among many other activities.<\/p>\n
