After weekend competition to advance to state and sectionals, student athletes from the Hazelwood School District are moving ahead in their sport.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cross country runners from Hazelwood Central and Hazelwood West high schools are going to the Missouri State High School Activities Association Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 6 in Jefferson City.<\/span><\/p>\n

William Mitchell, a senior from Hazelwood Central, finished 26<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> out of the top 30 in sectionals with a time of 17:19:53. Anthony Riggs, a junior from Hazelwood West, finished 21<\/span>st<\/span><\/sup> in the meet with a time of 17:12.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In football, the Hawks of Hazelwood Central are undefeated conference champions with a record of 10-0. As the Class 6, District 4 winners, the team will advance to sectionals to face Marquette. The game is November 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Hazelwood Central High School.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Spartans of Hazelwood East High School are Class 5, District 3 champions in football, with a record of 5-5. The sectional playoff game is Monday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. against Chaminade.
